LA Street Food Fest @ the Pasadena Rose Bowl

Did you see us the last LA Street Food Fest? If you didn’t, then I better see you this time around because the LA Street Food Fest is back! As you know, I’m an Eastside girl and so are Shawna Dawson and Sonja, co-founders of the LA Street Food Fest. Shawna and Unique LA’s, Sonja, have partnered up once more to bring you the best of what Los Angeles has to offer in terms of street food life and culture.
Josie’s still broke (don’t feel too bad for me, I’m happy as hell) and will be volunteering once again. I have A VERY SPECIAL JOB this time around so you better stop by and say hello. I’ll be Tweeting the whole …

A Certain ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’ in Los Angeles

There are experiences, people, and most importantly, meals that can take you to another world. It’s these small escapes that allow us to wander out of the clusterf-@! world we live in and into a simpler place. The Little Next Door is one of those places.
Sure the French will smoke in your presence, mock your way of life, answer the phone “Screw you!” instead of “Hello”, and may even un-remorsefully make love to your wife while you are at work  (’Unfaithful’ reference), but love them or hate them, their cuisine is like no other in the world.

We met with the best agent in the world, Claire Best, of Marsh Best (pun intended) at the Little Next Door on Third Street. We …

Got Frenchy?

Got Frenchy?

When the UGs went to Europe a little over a year ago we partook in the worst sleeping conditions ever. I may have mentioned this before but we once slept in a hostel in the London ghetto where people were murdered outside, I had an Australian masturbating in the bunk below and shaking my bed, and Josie had a crazy Italian chef who slept with a 8-inch knife below her (not a euphemism). It was pretty bad but we were far more lucky in Paris where we got to stay with a friend of a friend’s friends in a large apartment occupied by three cute Parisian men.

Alex, on the right, contacted Josie to let her know that he was going …

UG on the GG

Watching the Golden Globes and just saw the match up for Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy. Two of the nominees were In Bruges and Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Last year, Josie and I traveled to both Bruges and Barcelona and I also happened to see the two films and the winner was clearly correct.
I actually saw In Bruges with Josie before our trip and was curious why Colin Farrell continually dumped on Bruges it looked beautiful. Well, after visiting there for only three hours I completely understood. After arriving by train we hopped on a bus and decided to get off at the city center. We unknowingly passed the “city” center and our bus driver changed at a stop. Our new …

Palate tantalizes my palate!
I have been wanting to dine here since its opening. I was very excited when I had a food based business meeting of sorts here. It started in the wine bar with a lovely bottle of wine from Santa Cruz (my hometown) and delicious cured meats.
For dinner I had the pork belly and it was amazing. The fennel salad and the pickled onions were big pluses as was the whiskey bread pudding. The wine with dinner was …
